Meta is the New Facebook – Changing How Meeting Interactions Take Place
If you haven’t been living under a rock for the last couple of weeks, you have probably already heard about Facebook changing its name to Meta, but what are the implications of this?
The popular social media platform will still remain as Facebook – it’s only the Facebook company that has changed its name. The main reason for the rebranding is the creation of the so-called “metaverse” – an augmented reality platform that brings online social experiences to the physical world.

But what exactly is the metaverse and what are its functions? Will it revolutionize business and social meetings, or is it merely another fad that will fade soon? Let’s find out!
What is the Metaverse?
In the words of Meta’s founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, metaverse will be “an embodied internet where you’re in the experience, not just looking at it”. The most obvious explanation for Mark’s words is that metaverse will be an Extended Reality platform – a combination of both Augmented and Virtual Reality, spanning all apps and products created by Meta.
In the video preview of what metaverse will look like, Meta showcases expansive capabilities for creating a remote work environment for various industries. Whether it’s a home office, a collaborative surgeon training scenario, or a mechanic learning new blueprints, the metaverse will provide an interconnected virtual environment in which all of these things will be possible.
Metaverse vs. Other Meeting Management Software
While metaverse’s reveal makes it seem like something that previously could only be seen in Sci-Fi movies, the truth is, virtual reality meeting spaces are nothing new. In fact, meeting management software like Adam.ai has existed for years now.
Adam.ai actually offers many similar features to the metaverse, including collaborative agendas and decision making, paperless documentation, and easy progress monitoring.
However, while meeting management software like Adam.ai is mostly dedicated to businesses, metaverse will supposedly be open to both individuals as well as companies, with boundless functionality all connected to one platform.
One question remains – will metaverse be better than all the other similar software? While it certainly seems more inclusive, the details are yet to be seen, and it’s hard to make a judgment based on what we know. Stay tuned for more updates on the metaverse as new information is revealed!
